An American testifies for Ayurveda
By Micheal B. Goodman
On the brink of death, I was totally cured of coronary artery disease in a few months, through the ayurvedic and yogic systems of healing
I am an American citizen visiting your beautiful democracy. On the evening of August 27, B.B.C radio aired a programme here in Simla called "Gyana and Vigyana," broadcast in Hindi. It was stated on the Program that when fat deposits accumulate in the arteries near the heart an extremely dangerous situation is created known as coronary artery disease. Thousands of people each year die from heart attacks because of this dreaded disease.
The famous western doctors and scientists on the program further stated that there is no known cure for the coronary artery disease. Only open-Heart, By-Pass surgery was recommended as possibly giving partial relief. One Australian scientist said he was trying to find some better relief for the people.
However, here in India, On the brink of death, I was totally cured of coronary artery disease in a few months, through the ayurvedic and yogic systems of healing. This life-saving wisdom of India, handed down for thousands of years, is completely unknown to western doctors of the allopathic tradition of medicine. The west is Ignorant of the priceless knowledge of Indian healing, which has given me a rebirth, after the best medical men of western medicine had pronounced me to be in a hopeless condition.
My problem began in September of 1979, when I started to suffer severe chest pains. I could not do any work, nor even lift a chair without severe pain. A team of top heart specialists in San Francisco, California, diagnosed severe coronary disease, after days of the most rigorous tests , Including an angiogram.
A main artery near my heart was over 92 percent blocked by fat deposits. Only the tiniest amount of life-giving oxygen and blood was reaching my overworked heart. This famous team of surgeons warned that i could die of a heart attack at any moment. and that no cure was known that could reverse the disease by melting the fats from the arteries .
They Said that my very serious condition could deteriorate further.
The head of the team of surgeons urgently advised that I undergo open-heart , by-pass surgery, A vein taken from my leg would replace the blocked artery near my heart. During the operation , a twenty-five inch incision would be made in my chest, so that the replacement process could be accomplished.
I was astonished to hear from the doctors that there was no proof that my endangered life could at all be extended by the dangerous and traumatic surgery. The doctors admitted that at best, the operation would stop the angina pains in my chest.
I well understood that I submitted to the by-pass surgery, I would never be well or vigorous again, even though 135,000 such operations were performed in America just last year. I was at dead-end and in despair. All of western, allopathic medical wisdom and vast technology could do nothing for me.
It was just at that time, February of 1980, that I saw in a newspaper article, that an Indian yogi was visiting California and was engaged in healing the people through yogic and ayurvedic techniques of healing.
In desperation and through curiosity i contacted the yogi by telephone. I was Immediately accepted and admitted and after one month's practice there were remarkable results. Unfortunately, at the end of that month, the swami had to return to India.
I decided to contact other yogis in America. I went to a very big and famous Ashram in America, headed by swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. I went to reside at the Yogasharam, located at Nevada city, California, hoping to regain my health. But there I found that technical medical things were not known. only random practices were given to me , having no meaning or effect up on my disease. Nothing important came the Experience. Again in desperation I decided to go to swami of Simla. So I telephoned him that I soon would be arriving in India.
I went to India, and within two months , this swami took me to the very interior of the Himalayan mountains where I had to climb up very high hills and down steep grades , Actually ,the swami was testing me, wanting me to know that i had no heart trouble left by that time.
In America, the doctors have been astonished to find that there is absolutely no trace of the supposedly incurable coronary artery disease. All angina pains are gone. All fat deposits have melted out of my artery and body through simple yogic practices high-class minerals and proper diet. In the past year, since my ayurvedic and yogic cure, I have been able to do very strenuous physical work with no problems. The American doctors have certified and given full credit to my Indian cure. I know that my Mother India has given me a rebirth thanks to India's ancient wisdom , handed down for thousands of years.
I appeal to my Indian brothers also, that they should not ignore their own great nation's wisdom. They should realise India's healing traditions are the greatest boon to all mankind.
